Location: Ramses Square in Cairo, in front of Misr Station (then called Bab al-Hadid Square).

Time: 1880.

Event: Cairo residents welcoming pilgrims returning from Mecca after performing Hajj.

More details: The photo shows the Ismailia Canal before it was filled in in 1904, and the Limon Bridge that spanned the canal in front of Misr Station. The old station building is also visible before the current one was constructed.
