Egypt, Aswan, Village on Philae Island, 1856
An extinct village on Philae Island, which was submerged after the construction of the High Dam, was documented by French photographer Frédéric during his trip to Egypt from 1855-1856 AD, more than a century before the island's submergence.
It is worth noting that the Pharaonic temples on Philae Island were dismantled and moved to the neighboring island of Biga before the island was submerged.
