Gamal Abdel Nasser celebrating Victory Day with the people of Port Said , circa 1960
President Gamal Abdel Nasser of Egypt joins the people of Port Said in celebrating Victory Day — the commemoration of Egypt's triumph, along with its army, people, and national will, over the Tripartite Aggression by Britain, France, and Israel in 1956.
From December 23, 1957, to 1966, President Nasser consistently participated in the Victory Day celebrations in Port Said, riding in an open-top car through crowds of the city’s brave citizens.
This photograph was taken in front of Al-Qanah Preparatory School for Boys, on July 23rd Street in Port Said.
