Egypt , Aswan , in 1844

This photograph is part of a collection of photographs taken by the second photographer to visit Egypt during the late reign of Muhammad Ali Pasha.

Photographer Joseph Philippe Duprenge took numerous photographs between 1842 and 1846 AD, documenting many places and lifestyles in Egypt during that period.

The photographer described this photograph as depicting an Egyptian sitting next to a waterwheel near the Temple of Kom Ombo in Aswan in 1844 AD.
