Egypt , Alexandria Stanley Beach 1923
Stanley Beach was initially restricted to foreigners. However, after the completion of the Corniche in this area in 1932 and the construction of several cabins, this helped increase the number of vacationers.
The municipality had developed a comprehensive plan in 1932 to mark the imminent completion of the Corniche road from Montazah to Ras El Tin. It decided to grant licenses for kiosks in all vacant areas of the coast, from Shatby to Mandara. Therefore, the municipality devised a plan to install cabins on designated beaches: Stanley, Gleem, and Sidi Bishr. It stipulated that all kiosks be of the municipal style.
Similar to the development of the Stanley bathing beach, the municipality decided to develop the Alexandrian beach (the Corniche) between Stanley and Mandara, and to install municipal-style kiosks—roughly speaking, cabins. This requirement was waived for the area between Shatby and Mustafa Kamel, as the cabin owners were members of the working class.
It is important to note that, in addition to the impact of the Corniche's construction in 1932 on the development of Alexandria, it also had an impact on the development of beach bathing facilities and the establishment of cabins along many of its lengths. As a result, the city became Egypt's premier summer resort.
