Egypt Ceremony of the wafaa EL-Nil festival
In ancient times, Egyptians used to perform rituals, shows, and celebrations to thank the Nile for the water that comes with the flood and irrigates. In ancient times, there were religious rituals at the temples, and after that, it became a popular celebration with music, food, and decorations on the banks of the Nile. There was a legend that said that they were offering a beautiful girl as a sacrifice to the Nile, but most likely it was a doll or a statue, not a real person. In modern times, it has become just a decorated doll that is thrown into the Nile as part of the celebration.
