The first photograph of Romilah Square (the Citadel) in Cairo before the construction of Al-Rifai Mosque, with the Sultan Hassan Mosque standing alone, in 1846 AD.
This photograph is considered the first photograph of the site, taken by French photographer Joseph Philippe de Pranget during the late reign of Muhammad Ali Pasha.
Photographer Joseph Philippe de Pranget was the second photographer to arrive in Egypt and take photographs of it.
