Pilgrims stoning the Jamarat during the Hajj season of 1953

Saudi Arabia - Mecca - Mina

Stoning the Jamarat takes place on the first day of Eid, after the pilgrims arrive from their overnight stay in Muzdalifah, and they are, of course, in the state of ihram. The pilgrim then shaves his head, removes his state of ihram, and completes the remaining days of Tashreeq in Mina wearing normal clothing, not in the state of ihram. Some pilgrims spend the first and second days of Tashreeq in Mina, while others continue until the third day of Tashreeq (which is the fourth day of Eid), as God Almighty says: "And remember God during the appointed days. But whoever hastens [to do so] within two days, there is no sin upon him, and whoever delays, there is no sin upon him - for him who fears God. And fear God and know that you will be gathered to Him."

This means that the stoning is not performed on the first day of Eid, but rather on one of the following days, after the pilgrims have removed their state of ihram.
