This rare photograph captures the massive stone blocks of the Valley Temple near the Sphinx, with the Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza visible in the background, documenting one of ancient Egypt's most remarkable architectural complexes.

The original caption stated that the temple was "built before Joseph came to Egypt," reflecting a common 19th-century historical interpretation rather than modern archaeological dating. Today, the temple is generally dated to the reign of Pharaoh Khafre, around 2550 BC.
