During the Turkish era, the gate underwent many expansions and renovations. After the British occupation, the Aqaba Gate and the bridge became a relic in stages. The gate was removed at the beginning of the twentieth century. The last thing the British occupation did was demolish the Aqaba Bridge in 1963 AD under the pretext of expanding the road.
