Yemen. A view of Aden Harbor in 1896 AD

This rare photograph from 1896 AD, taken from a ship, shows the historic Aden Lighthouse, located on the rocks of the Crater area, overlooking the Gulf of Aden.

The British built this lighthouse in the mid-19th century as part of the maritime infrastructure that supported ships transiting between the Suez Canal and India.
