Egypt - Alexandria - Raml Station
You've often heard and read about the reclamation of seawater in the Raml Station area, Mansheya, and other areas of Alexandria to build the Corniche Road... but with this photo, you're witnessing that event with your own eyes.
The photo shows the reclamation of seawater in Raml Station to build the new Corniche Road at the beginning of the twentieth century, in 1900 AD.
The photo shows part of the Raml Station tram. The trams were pulled by steam locomotives before the line was electrified and the cars ran on electricity.
