Egypt, Cairo, el Sabtieh Market , Bolak in 1900

Donkey stand to transport people to and from the Sabtiya market in Cairo at the beginning of the twentieth century, 1900 AD

The Sabtiya Market in Bulaq, Cairo, specializes in the trade of scrap metal and other supplies, and is considered the "Kingdom of Scrap" in Egypt.

The Sabtiya Market is located in the Bulaq district, and the street extends from Ramses Square to the Nile Corniche near the Imbaba Bridge.

The name probably stems from an ancient market held in the area every Saturday, or from the presence of Jewish shops that closed on Saturdays.
